Hassle-Free Shopping – Our PayMaya Service Review
Josef Cagas November 21, 2015 5 Apps and the Internet , Reviews , Tech , Unboxings & ReviewsShopping, physical or online, was made easier by having a credit card. But not everybody can afford or are able to get a credit card. Introducing PayMaya.
Last month, October 10, 2015, Smart eMoney introduced PayMaya in Davao. PayMaya is the newest mobile app to arrive in the world of digital payments. It is a mobile app that generates a unique virtual Visa card which you can use for online purchases. You can also opt for a physical PayMaya Visa card by upgrading your virtual account. The card can be redeemed on Smart Jump centers, you can find one in Davao at SM Lanang Premier Cyberzone.
The app acts more like a debit card more than a credit card, where you top it up or load it to gain credits. The people from PayMaya was kind enough to send me Php500 to try it out. In which case I’ve used it to shop online on Zalora where I bought a nice 3-in-1 watch, which was on sale by the way. The transaction was smooth just like a regular credit card would but without the hassle of worrying about the credit card bills. You can top-up your card on selected Smart stores, Smart Padala Centers, Robinsons Business Centers, and soon on 7-Eleven convenience stores. I had trouble topping up my PayMaya account because it wasn’t available yet in the 7-Eleven stores here in Davao. Fortunately, I found out that SM Bayad Centers accepts PayMaya top-ups.
The PayMaya card also doubles as a BEEP card, so you can use them on your LRT/MRT rides. Unfortunately, there aren’t any LRTs/MRTs in Davao City yet so I was unable to test them out. Another perk about this service is that you can actually purchase airtime load, call and text packages, and data packages thru the app. These can even be gifted to family and friends with a personal message for added personal touch. PayMaya is an excellent service, we totally love it and highly recommend using it. Try out PayMaya now, you can download the app here on Google Play for Android or here on the App Store for iOS.

Hi! I want to know, where did you get your physical card? Is there a branch here in davao that offers that?
Hello Kuri, sorry for just getting back at you now. You can go to the Smart Jump Store, it is located in Cyberone 34d floor SM Lanang Premiere. I think there is a payment of Php100 for the physical card but that will be loaded to your account. Hope this helps. 🙂
[…] For those who don’t know, PayMaya is an app that gives you a virtual prepaid card for shopping online, booking flights and more.
