In this vivo V70 5G review, I spent two weeks testing its cameras, battery, display, and gaming performance for daily use.
I’ve been using the vivo V70 5G for about two weeks now, and I can say that vivo has certainly made the device look and feel premium. Aside from being stylish, it also has great display, amazing cameras, and enough performance for everyday use.
What’s Inside the Box

Unlike other brands nowadays, vivo still give users the complete package. Inside the box are:
- vivo V70 5G unit
- Charger/power brick
- USB-C to USB-A cable
- SIM ejector tool
- Clear case
- Documentation (User guide, warranty card)
I appreciate that they included everything that you may need in the box, which a good deal for most purchasers. Alternatively, they could have also not included a charger and a clear case in order to lower the price of the device.
Design, Build Quality, and Ergonomics

The first thing that stood out to about the device is its back panel design. We got the Golden Hour colorway. It looks normal from afar, but up close it’s really pretty. It changes color depending on the lighting, and have some wave patterns. It’s also smooth to the touch, and doesn’t leave fingerprints. The camera module looks a bit bigger compared to older vivo models, but it actually doesn’t look bad.

Sides of the device are flat, with buttons and port placements at their usual places. The power and volume buttons have a decent tactile feedback. The phone also feels very comfortable to hold, and is very light. Despite being thin and light, it does feel really solid and robust.
Display Quality

Coming with a large AMOLED display and paired with a high refresh rate, the vivo V70 5G’s screen is one of the better parts of the phone. Colors appear vibrant without looking overly saturated, blacks are deep, and viewing angles are excellent. It’s really enjoyable watching videos on YouTube and Netflix on the device. The high refresh rate also makes the entire experience feel smoother, especially when scrolling.
Outdoor visibility are pretty decent, but can be a bit hard to see under direct sunlight. Indoors though, images looks excellent.
Audio Quality
Not one of the phone’s strongest feature, the speakers are pretty decent. Volume is loud enough and watching videos without headphones are fine, but I find the audio lacking a bit of depth. It’s fine for watching videos, but I don’t really enjoy listening to music as much as with buds on or with my Bluetooth speaker. But for everyday TikTok, YouTube, Netflix, and even gaming, it’s perfectly fine.
Performance and Gaming
During the two weeks of my vivo V70 5G review, I realized that the device is designed more for balanced daily use rather than hardcore performance. And with that said, it actually handles pretty well. It stays smooth and responsive for regular tasks like Facebook, Messenger, Chrome, Gmail, etc. I didn’t encounter any major stutter or lag whatsoever, even with so many apps open at once.

Gaming performance is decent as well, though I’ve only tested it for a while with Honkai Impact. And it ran pretty well, but I needed to lower the graphic settings a bit for a smoother gameplay experience. I’m guessing it should be fine for games like Mobile Legends or Honor of Kings.
Benchmark Scores:

- PCMark: Work 3.0 = 11,510
- 3DMark: Wild Life = 7,702
- Geekbench 6 = CPU Single-Core = 1,326, CPU Multi-Core = 4,115, GPU OpenCL = 4,862
Battery Life and Charging
Battery life on the device is very reliable. I had mixed usage during the duration of my vivo V70 5G review, consisting of social media, camera testing, messaging, Spotify, YouTube, etc. I consistently ended the day with enough battery to spare. For light users, they could probably stretch it to two whole days.
Charging speed are also fairly quick. A short charge can already give enough power to last for a few hours. This gives me peace of mind, and not worry about my battery life.
User Experience

The vivo V70 5G runs on Origin OS, and probably one of the interesting part of using the device. It’s actually my first time using a phone with the Origin OS, and in my opinion, it feels different from Funtouch OS. It seems cleaner, more visual, and has a more polished design.
The UI feels modern but not too overly complicated for first time users. Animations feel smooth, and the overall experience feels fast and fluid. Opening apps are snappy, and with the display’s high refresh rate, doomscrolling is fast and smooth.

I also found this auto caption feature and just quickly tested it on YouTube. It seems to work pretty well. This would be so useful when watch foreign shows and livestreams.
One thing I don’t like though is the bloatware. Like most phones nowadays, it does come with a few apps pre-installed. But it’s not a deal breaker since they can mostly be uninstalled.
Camera Quality

Now the main selling point of the phone is its picture quality. After using it for everyday shots around our area, I can say that the cameras are really good. Photos come out very detailed with strong color reproduction and dynamic range.

The device is equipped with a 50PM ZEISS Super Telephoto Camera that offer up to x3 optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. Optical zooms are still pretty crisp and sharp, x50 digital zoom is even still decent, but you lose detail as you zoom out more.

Low light photos are amazing. It even capture great night photos. Quality goes down a bit though as you lose more light, but still pretty decent. The device also feature vivo’s Aura Light, which helps light up dark scenes. It’s very effective with portraits.

Selfies are consistently good, as you would expect from a vivo phone. Skin tones look pleasant, sharpness is good, and facial details hold up nicely in natural lighting. Its Beauty Mode is still available, and it can now be toned down.
The vivo V70 5G also features AI Magic Weather and AI Magic Landscape. It basically uses advanced AI to let you instantly change the weather, lighting, and even atmosphere in your photos. Below are some examples from a random shot I took.

Verdict

During the duration of my vivo V70 5G review, I realize that vivo really got a lot of things right here. It’s a well-balanced phone that’s perfect for daily use. It also have amazing cameras that can capture moments in crisp, sharp images. The AI Magic Weather and AI Magic Landscape is also a nice feature that can take your boring shots into fun, creative photos. However, power users and hardcore mobile gamers who are looking for maximum performance might find it a bit lacking.
If you’re looking for a stylish, premium-looking smartphone with great cameras and stable day-to-day performance, the vivo V70 5G is a very solid option. It doesn’t have the most raw power or aggressive specs, but it gets the essentials right which is what most people need in everyday usage.
