Disney is bringing a variety of movies this year. These 2020 Disney movies include fantasy, horror, superheroes, and animated movies.

Disney had great success at the box office with their 2019 lineup of movies. Will they be able to replicate that success this year? We’ll see. Here are the 2020 Disney movies and their scheduled release. As Disney recently acquired Fox, movies from Fox will also be included in the list, as well as movies from Pixar, Marvel, and movies coming out on the Disney+ streaming platform.

The Call of the Wild – February 21, 2020 (USA)

Based on Jack London’s 1903 novel of the same name and a remake of Fox’s 1935 movie, the film follows the story of a St. Bernard/Scotch Collie dog named Buck. Buck was stolen from his home and was sold to freight haulers. He befriends John Thornton (portayed by Harrison Ford on this film), and becomes part of a dog sled team that delivers mail.

Onward – March 4, 2020 (PH)

Set in a world with mystical creatures, Onward is about two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, who embarks on a quest to see if there is still some magic left in the world. The Lightfoot brothers are voiced by Tom Holland and Chris Pratt. Other voice cast includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Octavia Spencer, and Ali Wong.

Mulan – March 25, 2020 (PH)

Disney’s live-action re-adaptation continues, and Mulan is up next. It is an adaptation of Disney’s 1998 animated movie of the same name. The story centers on Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior who steps in to take the place of her ailing father by disguising herself as a man. The movie stars Liu Yifei as the title character.

The New Mutants – April 3, 2020 (USA)

After being in limbo, the movie finally sets a release date. The movie is about five young mutants who just discovered their abilities while held in a secret facility. They fight to escape their past sins, and save themselves.

Black Widow – April 29, 2020 (PH)

We finally get a Black Widow solo movie. Set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the movie follows Natasha Romanoff as she reunites with her Russian family. They will also face new threats in other parts of the world. Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson as the titular character.

The Woman in the Window – May 15, 2020 (USA)

Based on the 2018 novel of the same name, The Woman in the Window is a psychological thriller about an agoraphobic woman who witness a disturbing act of violence while keeping tabs on the family living across the street. The movie stars Amy Adams as Dr. Anna Fox. Also starring are Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Wyatt Russell, Brian Tyree Henry, and Anthony Mackie.

Artemis Fowl – May 29, 2020 (USA)

Artemis Fowl II is a young Irish criminal mastermind who searches for his father who disappeared mysteriously. He kidnaps the fairy LEPrecon officer, Captain Holly Short, for ransom to fund his search. Artemis soon finds himself in a battle against a race of powerful underground fairies who might have something to do with his father’s disappearance.

Soul – June 19, 2020 (USA)

Soul follows Joe Gardner, a musician who has lost his passion for music. He is transported out of his body and must find his way back with the help of an infant soul learning about herself.

Jungle Cruise – July 24, 2020 (USA)

Much like Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise is a movie based on Disneyland’s theme park ride. A small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals. Led by Captain Franks Dwayne Johnson), he takes scientist Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) and her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall) on a mission to find the Tree of Life.

The Empty Man – August 7, 2020 (USA)

The Empty Man

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Cullen Bunn and Vanesa R. Del Rey, The Empty Man is a supernatural horror movie. It is a story of an ex-cop that comes across a secretive group attempting to summon a terrifying supernatural entity.

The One and Only Ivan – August 14, 2020 (USA)

The One and Only Ivan

The One and Only Ivan is a fantasy drama movie about a gorilla named Ivan. Ivan tries to piece together his past with the help of an elephant named Stella and a dog named Bob as they hatch a plan to escape from captivity.

The King’s Man – September 18, 2020 (USA)

The King’s Man is a prequel to Kingsman: The Secret Service. As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them.

Death on the Nile – October 9, 2020 (USA)

Death on the Nile

Inspector Hercule Poirot is back as he investigate the murder of a young heiress aboard a cruise ship in the Nile River. Based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie, Death on the Nile is a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express.

The Eternals – November 6, 2020 (USA)

The Eternals

The Eternals is a race of immortal beings who lived on Earth and shaped its history and civilizations. They are an alien race created by the Celestials to protect humanity from their counterparts, the Deviants. No other details of the plot has been revealed as of writing.

Deep Water – November 23, 2020 (USA)

Deep Water is a psychological thriller based on the novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith. It follows a married couple, Vic and Melinda Van Allen, go through some problems in their relationship. After Vic allows Melinda to have affairs so they can avoid a divorce, he becomes a prime suspect in the disappearance of her lovers.

Raya and the Last Dragon – November 25, 2020 (USA)

Raya and the Last Dragon

Raya and the Last Dragon is an animated fantasy movie set in a mysterious realm called Kumandra. No other details about the movie yet except it’s about a warrior named Raya searches for the last dragon in the world.

West Side Story – December 18, 2020 (USA)

West Side Story

Based on the Broadway musical of the same name by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story follows teenagers, who despite having affiliations with rival street gangs, fall in love in 1950s New York City. The movie will be directed by Steven Spielberg.
