The All-New 2016 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Preview Night

Mitsubishi Motors, one of the top car manufacturers in the world, has just released the 2016 iteration of their most famous SUV, the Montero Sport. It is also known as the Pajero Sport (Europe), Shogun Sport (United Kingdom), Nativa (parts of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East), or the Strada G-Wagon (Thailand).

The Montero Sport as a lot of publicity over the months, bad and good. Most recently is the controversy about it having SUA (Sudden Unintended Acceleration). I’ve driven different vehicles both manual and automatic and in all honesty, I don’t really believe those claims. But despite the bad rep, it has received great reviews for its remarkable design and great performance. But enough about that and lets just see what this model offers. We’ve been invited to the Davao Launch of the 2016 all-new Montero Sport that was held at KarAsia Bajada, Davao City on January 9, 2016. And here is what we thought about it.

Exterior

The exterior design is aesthetically pleasing. The design is very stylish that is very noticeable making it a head-turner. The tube-style LED lights also gives it a very distinct look.

Interior

The interior is stylish as well with a luxurious look and feel that can be seen in European SUVs.

Comfort

With beautiful interiors, one can assume that driving the Montero Sport will be very comfortable. It now equipped with a Keyless Operation System, Engine Push Start Button, and a new Electronic Parking Brake.

Safety

It is also equipped with the latest active safety systems like 7 SRS Airbags, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, Forward Collision Mitigation System, Blind Spot Warning, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Trailer Stability Assist, and Brake Assist. The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) and the Latin New Car Assessment Program (LNCAP) has given it a 5-star safety rating.

Performance

We couldn’t say much about tits performance mainly because we were not able to take it for a test drive. It is powered by a MIVEC clean diesel engine. It also uses a new 8-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission for smooth acceleration and better fuel consumption. It also has a new Super Select II 4WD system.

Overall we couldn’t really complain about the design of the 2016 Montero Sport. I just wish that we can take it for a spin in order to experience its performance and comfort firsthand. You can also check out the video below on what went on during the event.
