The 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are Apple’s lightest Pro models ever. It is designed with aerospace-grade titanium, making it strong and lightweight. This new design also features contoured edges and a customizable Action Button.
Titanium
Both models feature a strong and lightweight titanium design. It’s the same premium alloy used in spacecraft, and has the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any metal. It also features a new refined brush texture, contoured edges, and the thinnest borders on an iPhone. And to complement the strength of titanium, the new iPhones also comes with the industry-leading Ceramic Shield on the front.
Behind the Ceramic Shield is the Super Retina XDR display. Which also feature Always-On and ProMotion technologies, resulting in an exceptional viewing experience.
An all-new Action Button now replaces the single-function switch which is used to toggle between ring and silent. This offers additional options for users to choose between quickly accessing the camera or flashlight. It can also be used to activate Voice Memos, Focus modes, Translate, and accessibility features such as Magnifier. A press-and-hold gesture with fine-tuned haptic feedback and visual cues in the Dynamic Island ensures that it launches the intended action.
Under the Hood
Apple’s new A17 Pro chip will power the new iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. This 3nm chip unlocks next-level gaming experiences and pro performance. It is up to 10% faster with microarchitectural and design improvements. Neural Engine is now up to 2x faster, which power features like autocorrect and Personal Voice in iOS 17.
Its GPU is also now up to 20% faster. It offers smoother graphics, as well as immersive AR applications and gaming experiences.
No More Lightning
Like the 15 and 15 Plus, the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max is also ditching the Lightning port for the USB-C port. It is supercharged with USB 3 speeds, up to 20x faster than USB 2.
Ultra Wideband Chip
Both models will also feature the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. This enable the devices to connect at three times the range as before. This improves Precision Finding, such as Find My Friends.
Powerful Pro Camera System
The new Pro models is equipped with a more advanced 48MP main camera system. This now support the new super-high-resolution 24MP default, the next generation of portraits with Focus and Depth Control, and improvements to Night mode and Smart HDR. The 15 Pro Max also includes an exclusive all-new 5x Telephoto camera. It also has an innovative tetraprism design with combined optical image stabilization and autofocus 3D sensor-shift module. This makes it Apple’s most advanced stabilization system yet.
Next-generation portraits on the new devices features sharper details, more vivid colors, and better low-light performance. Users will also be able to take portraits without having to switch to Portrait mode. The iPhone automatically captures depth information, and users can turn the photos into stunning portraits later in the Photos app. Users will also be able to adjust the focus point even after the photo has been taken.
iOS 17
Both the new iPhone Pro models will come with iOS 17 out-of-the-box. This makes it more intuitive with features such as NameDrop, Standby, Interactive Widgets, and more.
iOS 17 will also be available as a free software update to other devices starting September 18, 2023.
