Last Monday (May 30, 2016), Asus held their Zenvolution event on Taipei, Taiwan during Computex 2016. It was an event where they unveiled their latest products. And one of those products was their new flagship smartphones, the much awaited ZenFone 3.
ZenFone 3
Asus focused on three things when designing the ZenFone 3, and that is Agility, Beauty, and Clarity. The ZenFone 3 reportedly has two variants, a 5.2-inch and a 5.5-inch version with only some minor differences in specs. The 5.2-inch variant has a 2600 mAh battery, 3 GB of RAM, and a 32 GB internal storage, while the 5.5-inch has a 3000 mAh battery, 4 GB of RAM, and a 64 GB internal storage. Both of them is equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, and an Adreno 506 GPU. The ZenFone 3 is covered with scratch-resistant 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass both on the front and the rear of the phone. The device also comes with Android Marshmallow out of the box with the improved ZenUI 3. It also features a built-in fingerprint scanner and reversible USB 3.0 Type-C. They also significantly improved their camera, a 16MP camera with their TriTech Autofocus System that selects between the 2nd generation Laser Autofocus, Phase Detection AutoFocus, and Continuous AutoFocus. It also features a 4-Axis Optical Image Stabilization, 3-Axis Electronic Image Stabilization, 6 Element Largan Lense, and 4k Video Recording. No SRP yet for the ZenFone 3 5.5-inch version, USD 249 for the 5.2-inch version.
ZenFone 3 Deluxe
The Deluxe is the world’s first full-metal smartphone with invisible antenna design. Constructed with a strong and light aluminum alloy body, it features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a gamut of over 100% NTSC color space. It is equipped with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 GPU, up to 6 GB of RAM, 3000 mAh of battery, and a massive 256 GB of internal storage. It runs on Android Marshmallow with the new ZenUI 3. The Deluxe raises the bar on mobile photography and video by having a 23MP camera that features the latest Sony IMX318 sensor, a large f/2.0 Aperture Lens, 4-Axis Optical Image Stabilization, 3-Axis Electronic Image Stabilization, as well as their ASUS’ TriTech Autofocus System that automatically selects between their 2nd generation Laser AutoFocus, Phase Detection AutoFocus, and Continuous AutoFocus. The device also has a built-in Fingerprint Scanner, Quick Charge 3.0 technology, and a reversible USB Type-C port. The Deluxe also boast its audio quality, having a five-magnet speaker and an NXP smart amplifier for defined sound and it protects the speakers from damage as well. The Deluxe is priced at USD 499.
ZenFone 3 Ultra
The Ultra is a bit larger than the other two, it’s essentially a phablet. It is designed for multimedia lovers, having a large 6.8-inch display with 95% NTSC color gamut. It is the first smartphone to have ASUS’ new Tru2Life+ Video technology that can harness a high-end 4k UHD TV-grade image processor. Just like the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, the Ultra is also equipped with five-magnet stereo speakers and a NXP smart amplifier. It is also the world’s first smartphone with virtual 7.1-channel surround sound with DTS Headphone:X. It also has a full-metal unibody chassis, equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, Adreno 510 GPU, and 4 GB of RAM. The Ultra features a built-in fingerprint scanner and a huge 4600 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology and it even works as a power bank to charge other devices, just like the ZenFone Max. It has a reversible USB Type-C as well and is priced at USD 479.
