Samsung recently announced the launch of its new Samsung 990 SSD with powerful performance and improved power efficiency.
Available in 1TB and 2TB capacities, the new 990 SSD delivers exceptional sequential performance and enhanced power efficiency. It is designed as a balanced storage solution that is optimized for gaming, creative workloads, and daily PC use.

The 2TB model offers a sequential read speed of up to 7,250 MB/s, while the 1TB model achieves 7,150 MB/s. Both models support sequential write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s. In terms of random performance, the 2TB version provides up to 850K read and 1,200K write IOPS, whereas the 1TB model delivers up to 700K read and 1,100K write IOPS, enhancing application launches, gameplay responsiveness, and large-scale workload management.
The expanded storage capacity also allows users to store large amounts of high-quality content and the latest AAA games. The 2TB model can store up to 30 large-scale games based on an average size of 64GB1, making it an ideal solution for gamers and creators managing increasingly sizable files and applications.
The Samsung 990 SSD has enhanced power efficiency by up to 38% compared to the 990 PRO model, providing high performance with reduced power consumption. The Samsung Magician Software supports the SSD by ensuring optimal performance through data migration and health monitoring, allowing for customized performance optimization and data protection.
Price and Availability
The Samsung 990 SSD will be launched globally starting July 15, 2026, and is coming soon to the Philippines with an SRP of ₱19,075 for 1TB and ₱37,678 for the 2TB capacity. Upon its arrival, it will be available across official Samsung Storage stores on Shopee and Lazada, as well as partner retailers in the Philippines such as PC Express, Infoworx, Octagon, The Net, JW Summit, PC Hub, Thinking Tools, Dynamic PC, Datablitz, Memo Express.
