Star Wars Rise of Skywalker Facebook Messenger Features

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is nearly here. And Facebook just announced a new set of Star Wars themed features in Facebook Messenger.

With just days before the new Star Wars movie hits Philippine theaters, Disney partners with Facebook in order to hype up the upcoming movie. In this case, they developed some fun features for Facebook Messenger. The features include a Chat Theme, Reactions, Stickers, and AR Effects.

This isn’t the first time that a studio would collaborate with a big company to promote a movie. With this partnership, it’s a win-win for both party. Disney will be able to market the upcoming movie, and Facebook will have an increase in usage and engagement with their app.

AR Effects

Star Wars Rise of Skywalker AR Effects

The limited-edition AR effects was created with the help of Disney. They can be used either while taking photos and selfies, or when you’re on video calls.

The effects are the Lightspeed Effect, the Cockpit Effect, and the Dark vs Light Effect. The Lightspeed Effect gives the appearance of jumping into hyperspace. The Cockpit Effect lets you sit inside and pilot Poe Dameron’s X-Wing. While the Dark vs Light Effect lets you choose your side of the Force.

Chat Theme and Reactions

The collaboration also released a Chat Theme for Facebook Messenger. The theme makes messages appear as if in outer space. With the theme activated, you’ll also get access the Star Wars themed Reactions. You can change the theme when accessing the settings by tapping the chat window’s name.

Stickers

Lastly, you can download the new Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker sticker set at the Sticker Store.

You can now enjoy the Star Wars Facebook Messenger features right now. All the features are free to use. Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker will hit Philippine theaters this December 20, 2019, just before the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). It will resume showing in cinemas after the MMFF.
