Sony just added new additions to their Cyber-shot lineup of travel high zoom point-and-shoot cameras; the DSC-HX99, and the DSC-WX800.
The new point-and-shoots are packaged with the world’s smallest body, but offer a versatile zoom range from 24mm wide up to 720mm telephoto. Both cameras are equipped with the powerful BIONZ X image processing engine combined with a front-end LSI. This deliver high-speed continuous shooting at 10 fps with a buffer limit of 155 images. They also have a fast AF function, and location data acquisition via Bluetooth.
The HX99 can shoot in RAW format while the WX800 doesn’t. The HX99 also has an electronic viewfinder, while the WX800 doesn’t.
Aside from shooting RAW and having an electronic viewfinder, there’s pretty much no other differences between both cameras’ features. They both have the same 18.2MP Exmor R CMOS Sensor and a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T24-720mm lens. Both can capture 4K video footage with full pixel readout. They also have a Fast-Intelligent AF speed of just 0.09 seconds. Plus, a touch focus and touch shutter functionality.Their LCD screen also tilts up to 180 degrees allowing for easy framing of selfies, group shots, and/or when you are vlogging.
