The Shadow of the Tomb Raider game has just released its first trailer, and it looks like it will be Lara Croft’s darkest adventure yet.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third game of the rebooted series, following after Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015). The game was teased since March this year, and Square Enix finally released the first trailer for the game.
The trailer doesn’t really show much of how the game will turn out or what the mechanics will be. We do, however, get the over all tone of the game and it seems very dark. We see Lara running through a jungle and taking care of some soldiers (probably Trinity). The game seems to set in a Mayan civilization, with Lara questioning “What will I become?”. Square Enix stated that the new game will task Lara with saving the world from a Mayan apocalypse.
The new game is being helmed by Eidos Montreal, the studio that brought us Deus Ex. They took over the series from Crystal Dynamics. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is said to be launching across platforms simultaneously on September 14, 2018. It will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
