Disney recently announced that they be developing a new Star Wars trilogy, as well as a new Star Wars live-action TV series.

“We all loved working with Rian on The Last Jedi,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “He’s a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”

“We had the time of our lives collaborating with Lucasfilm and Disney on The Last Jedi,” Johnson and Bergman said in a joint statement. “Star Wars is the greatest modern mythology and we feel very lucky to have contributed to it. We can’t wait to continue with this new series of films.”

Star Wars Live-Action TV Series

Aside from the new trilogy, Disney also announced that they have plans on creating a new live-action Star Wars television series. The series is planned to air on Disney’s new streaming service that is set to be released on 2019.

Star Wars TV

Star Wars isn’t particularly new on television, they have shows that aired but mostly animated. There was Star Wars: Droids and Star Wars: Ewoks that aired on 1985 and 1986, then Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Clone Wars on 2003, and Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: Forces of Destiny that is still both airing.

No more information yet about the new trilogy and TV series. But with a clean slate, there are a lot of possibilities on which storyline Disney would adapt. It could also be a new story entirely. MY biggest hope is that they make an adaptation of Knights of the Old Republic.
