iPhone X

During last week’s Apple Event, three new iPhones including the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Here’s everything you need to know about the third, the iPhone X.

Those leaks about a bezel-less iPhone for the past months wasn’t about the new iPhone 8 after all. It turns out, it was the iPhone X (pronounced as iPhone Ten). The special edition phone was in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Tim Cook stated that “It’s the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone”. So let’s see what the new device is all about.

Design and Aesthetics

iPhone X Dual Cameras
iPhone X TrueDepth Camera

The first thing you’ll notice about the new iPhone is that it has a huge screen, taking up most of the whole phone’s front panel. It is made from surgical-grade stainless steel, with glass at the back of the phone. The device has a dual rear camera setup just like the iPhone & Plus but it is oriented vertically. It also has their new TrueDepth front facing camera.

iPhone X OLED

It is equipped with an OLED display, finally! It has no physical home button because of the huge screen. You can, however, swipe the bar at the bottom of the screen to go back to the home screen. Other functions are also controlled by gestures.

Performance

The device comes with iOS 11 out of the box, and is equipped with Apple’s new chip, the A11. This means that the iPhone X will run very smooth and will be intuitive to use. It has six cores, and better performance than the A10.

Other Features

The device has dual rear cameras, with dual image optical image stabilization. The front camera now supports portrait mode, and has auto stabilization and exposure control. Both cameras also have Apple’s new Portrait Lighting feature.

iPhone X Waterproof

Just like the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, it has water and dust resistance with a rating of IP67. The device can also charge wirelessly with Qi standards.

iPhone X Face ID

But the most notable feature it has is its Face ID feature, which replaces Touch ID from its predecessors. Through the TrueDepth camera, Face ID recognizes your face and use it to unlock the phone. All you have to do is raise your iPhone X facing your face, and it illuminates and recognizes your face. Apple even claims that it will still recognize your face even if you change your hairstyle, grow facial hair, or even wear glasses.
