The tournament will be an 8 team single elimination format featuring the best Dota 2 teams from around the world, One team from Europe, one team from the United States, one team from the Philippines, one Chinese team, two more Southeast Asian teams, and an additional two teams that will be directly invited based on their past performance. No information about the qualified and invited teams as of now but will be announced on a later date on the ESL One website.
“The Philippines have a strong history with Dota 2, and so when discussing possible Asian events, the decision was an easy one to make, This is a country and community that loves Dota 2, and we’re honored to be able to say we’re making history with this event: it’s the first event of its kind in the region and we can’t wait to see fan reactions to what we have in store.” -Ulrich Schulze, vice president for Pro Gaming at ESL.
