DJI Announces Their First 4k Action Camera – The DJI Osmo Action

The action camera market has been dominated by GoPro. But DJI just announced their first action camera; the DJI Osmo Action.

DJI has been teasing something aquatic on their social media accounts lately with the tagline “Unleash Your Other Side”. Well now we know what it is. It turns out to be an action camera, a direct competitor to GoPro products.

But why that tagline? Well one unique feature of the Osmo Action is that is has two screens, one at the back and one on the front. The front screen is important in order to check your framing when you’re shooting yourself. The rear display is a touch screen panel that has water-resistant and fingerprint-repellent coating.

The Action also have the regular features as what other action cameras have; waterproof, shockproof, and dust-proof. It can go as deep as 11 meters underwater without the need of an additional case. It can also record 4k videos, including different different capture modes such as Timelapse and Slow-Mo.

The action cam also has a Rocksteady stabilization feature. Which is claimed to have more steady stabilization than the GoPro Hero7 Black.

The DJI Osmo Action will be offered for USD 349 (aprrox. PHP 18,382) from the DJI website, and will be widely available starting May 22, 2019. Accessories will also be made available soon such as an Extension Rod Floating Handle, a range of ND Filters, as well as a housing that extends the waterproofing up to 60 meters.
