Netflix’s new sci-fi comedy-drama epic, The Electric State, is now streaming on the platform, and this is what we learned about it.

The Electric State is based on the popular 2018 illustrated novel by Swedish artist and author Simon Stålenhag. In this adaptation, Michelle Greene (Millie Bobby Brown) must travel across an alternate-timeline and war-torn United States of America to find here missing brother Christopher (Woody Norman). Due to the recent end of a destructive conflict between humans and sentient robots, she must navigate a tension-ridden USA.
Greene’s journey teaches valuable lessons about family, friendship, and sacrifice, which many Filipinos, who prioritize their loved ones, may learn from.
When it comes to family, you’ve got to hold on to hope
Michelle, living alone, discovers her missing brother in a different form when a rogue robot finds her. Despite the slim chances and the absurdity of the story, Michelle embarks on a mission to find Christopher.
When family or loved ones are involved, it’s crucial to give them the benefit of the doubt and hold onto hope for good, even in difficult circumstances. It’s the right thing to do, and we should expect our loved ones to do the same.
You’ve got to fight for your friends.
Family is just one aspect of life, as we meet many people and make friends. It’s our responsibility to support them in their fights for the right things.
In the movie, Michelle and Keats (Chris Pratt) encounter a peaceful group of sentient robots who want freedom from human oppression. After understanding their plight, recognizing their right to live, and seeing that they are also capable of feelings, thoughts, and emotions, they also take up their cause and fight back against the people who want to destroy them.
By sharing our understanding and bravery with others, we can improve many lives, particularly during challenging times.
Sometimes, we have to make huge sacrifices for our loved ones.
Michelle faces a difficult decision at the film’s climax. It would require the ultimate sacrifice for Christopher’s well-being, despite the sadness and heart-wrenching nature of the decision.
Supporting loved ones can sometimes cause personal pain, but it’s essential to let go of something for someone else’s sake. Accepting that it will be beneficial for them, even if it’s opposite to you.
