Xiaomi Announces Mi Drone – A Bang for the Buck Drone

There are many tech that are trending these days. From 360 cameras to virtual reality equipment. Another device that’s popular right now are drones. And Xiaomi, China’s smartphone giant, just announced their very own drone, the Xiaomi Mi Drone.

The Mi Drone has a 4-propeller system with detachable shields, just like most of the drones in the market. It is equipped with a 1090p or 4K UHD camera, with 104° wide-angle lens. It can also provide a 720p with low latency from up to 2 km distance. The camera is attached to a 3-axis gimbal that stabilizes up to 2000 vibrations per second. The drone is very lightweight with a modular design and landing gear.

The Mi Drone also boast about its features, such as having a 17.4V 5100mAh battery for 27 minutes of non-stop flying. It has GPS + GLONASS + vision-based positioning for max precision. A Home button can be also found on the controller to make the drone come back to you instantly. It also hovers automatically at the edge of no-fly zones and intelligently detects low battery and returns automatically.

The device also features some autopilot modes: automatic take-off + landing, waypoint flight path planning, tap to fly on map, and circle an object on the ground. And probably my favorite feature is its real-time location tracking for easy retrieval when it crashes. You can also check out an unboxing video of it made by Xiaomi’s VP for International, Hugo Barra, below:

The Xiaomi Mi Drone has an SRP of Cny 2,499 (roughly Php 17,826) for the 1080p version and Cny 2,999 (roughly Php 21,395) for the 4K UHD version. No mention of its international release as of yet.
