Time to Upgrade – Windows 10 will be given for Free to Testers

Windows 10  will not just be a free upgrade for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users, it will be also be given for free to testers.

Windows 10 Preview (build 10130) is available for anyone who wants to test it, you can download the preview here. You have to install this build on a machine and use a Microsoft Account that is registered for the Windows Insider program. You will then get the final version of Windows 10 by upgrading its final bits for free.

Microsoft’s Gabe Aul posted on their site’s blog confirming this method.

“As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA (Microsoft Account) you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build and remain activated,” says Aul.

Testers will soon be required to use a Microsoft Account in order to receive updated builds. So for anyone still running their system on Windows XP or Windows Vista, better sign up for Windows Insider and install the latest preview build now to get the final copy for free on July 29.
