Good News Game Devs, Unreal Engine 4 is Now Free!

Many game developers use Unreal Engine in their games to deliver phenomenal graphics. It cost a bit much but  they now can use it for free.

For those who are not familiar, Unreal Engine 4 is a game development tools suite. Last year, Epic Games moved Unreal Engine 4 from a huge licensing cost to a subscription fee of $19 per month and a 5% cut of any gross revenue made from a commercial product. But now they are providing the graphic engine to developers for free as explained by Tim Sweeney on a video.

But there is a catch though. You can download and use the engine from their website for free and use it for game development or even just for visualization or animation. But when you ship an application, you pay 5% royalty per month, on gross revenue after the first $3000 per product. With this arrangement, more developers may use Unreal Engine and help the game development community grow.
